Loren spent his career on Detroit's streets. Now he engraves them.

Loren Lozon is a retired Detroit police officer. He was diagnosed with PTSD, and it ended his career in law enforcement.

Woodworking wasn't a second act he went looking for. He'd been doing it since he was nine years old, and it had been a steadying, therapeutic thing in his life the whole way through. In 2020, after he retired, he turned it into the work.

He runs the shop with his younger brother Steve, and his two sons Danny and Zach work there from time to time. Between them they create wood and metal pieces entirely by hand, all within the city limits of Detroit.

Detroit Carved is proud to be part of the revitalization of the city, and committed to making unique, handcrafted pieces that reflect its spirit and resilience. That's not a slogan around here. It's just where the shop is, and who's in it.

Ordering

How it works.

Making & shipping: Orders are made and shipped within 2–3 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. You'll get a shipping notification with tracking; allow up to 48 hours for tracking to appear.
If it hasn't arrived: If nothing has turned up within 14 days of the shipping confirmation, email us with your name and order number and we'll look into it.
Returns: 30 days from delivery on stock pieces, unused and in original condition, refunded minus shipping. Custom work is final.
Damaged in transit: Email as soon as you can with your order number and a photo. These are handled case by case.
